Amazon's New Launch Credits Are Worth Roughly $575 an ASIN. The Click That Keeps Them Expires October 31.

There is a version of this article that opens with a countdown clock and tells you to drop everything. That version is wrong, and the sellers who write their Q4 launch calendar around it will make a worse decision than the ones who ignore it entirely.

Here is the accurate version. Amazon replaced the New Selection Program with the New Selection Program (2026) on July 30. If you were already enrolled in the old program, you are getting the new benefits automatically on branded ASINs listed between July 30 and October 31. That automatic window closes on October 31, 2026. Anything you list after that date receives nothing unless you have gone into Seller Central and confirmed enrollment under the updated terms.

The recommendation: go confirm enrollment this week, because it takes two minutes and costs nothing. Then do not reorganize a single thing about your Q4 launch plan around it, because the benefit is capped at 200 units per parent ASIN and it is not large enough to move a real decision. The part of this program that actually deserves an hour of your time is the stacking rule with New Seller Incentives, which most sellers have not read and which quietly determines whether you get these credits at all.

What the program actually pays

Per Amazon’s Seller Central documentation as reported by PPC Land, the benefits break into three buckets.

Instant referral fee credits. For the first 100 units sold of an eligible new-to-FBA parent ASIN, the referral fee is capped at 10 percent, or your existing rate if that is already lower. For the next 100 units, the cap drops to 5 percent, same floor. These are applied automatically at the point of sale rather than rebated weeks later, which is a real improvement over the old mechanism.

Promotional allowances. $75 in Vine credits, tied to mid-tier enrollment covering three to ten units per parent ASIN, plus $50 in coupon credits applied against variable coupon fees. Both are usable only within the first 60 days after you list a buyable offer. Neither rolls over.

Logistics waivers. For 120 days after your first FBA inbound shipment, on your first 200 units: no storage fees, no storage utilization surcharge, no low-inventory-level fee. Free customer returns processing and free liquidation run on the same 120-day, 200-unit structure. Sellers using Vine Pre-launch get a 45-day extension across all of these windows.

Do the math before you get excited

Take a $30 item in a 15 percent referral fee category, which covers a large share of consumer goods.

First 100 units, referral drops from 15 percent to 10 percent. That is $1.50 saved per unit, or $150.

Next 100 units, referral drops from 15 percent to 5 percent. That is $3.00 per unit, or $300.

Add the $75 Vine credit and the $50 coupon credit and you are at roughly $575 in hard credits per new parent ASIN, before the storage and returns waivers. Launch ten new ASINs and you have captured somewhere around $5,750.

That is real money and you should take it. It is also, for a brand doing seven figures, a rounding error against a single quarter of ad spend. Treat it as free money you collect on the way past, not as a reason to pull a launch forward or push one back.

The waivers are worth the most when the 120-day window lands on peak storage months, since Amazon charges more per cubic foot in Q4 than the rest of the year. An early September inbound puts the waiver over most of the peak window. But it is capped at 200 units, so on a launch that is actually working you burn through the cap before the storage saving amounts to much. On a launch that is not working, the free liquidation is the benefit that matters, and 120 days is a shorter runway to find that out than the old program gave you.

The part almost nobody has read

New Selection Program (2026) benefits do not stack with New Seller Incentives.

Where an ASIN qualifies for both, Amazon’s own FAQ states that on overlapping benefit types, referral fee credits, Vine credits and coupon credits, the New Seller Incentives benefits are consumed first. Only after those are exhausted or expired do the New Selection Program benefits start applying.

Read that again if you are a newer seller, because it means the $575 figure above is not additive on top of what you are already receiving. It is the thing that starts once the other thing runs out. If you built a launch model that counted both, the model is wrong.

The benefits unique to New Selection Program (2026) are not affected by the sequencing. Free liquidation, free returns processing and the storage waivers apply even while New Seller Incentives is still live, because New Seller Incentives has no equivalent provision.

Eligibility is narrower than the headline

The program covers branded, new-to-FBA parent ASINs, which Amazon defines as products that have not had an FBA shipment in the past 12 months by any seller. Standard and non-standard size both qualify. Used items do not.

Excluded outright: books, DVDs, music, software, computer and video games, videos, video game consoles and accessories, and Haul ASINs.

You need a professional selling plan in normal or vacation status, and a trailing six-month Inventory Performance Index of 300 or higher if you have an assigned score.

That last one is the quiet gate. If your IPI has been drifting down through a messy summer, fixing it is worth more than the program is, and you need it fixed before the Q4 storage limits get set anyway.

What is confirmed and what is not

Amazon has published the program terms and the October 31 date. Those are solid.

What is not confirmed by Amazon is the comparison against the old program. Sellers on the Amazon forums have reported that free liquidation dropped from 180 days to 120, free returns dropped from 180 days to 120, and the fee credit ceiling moved from up to 12 percent down to 10 percent. That is seller-reported, not Amazon-confirmed, and Amazon has not published a side-by-side. Treat it as directionally useful and do not build a forecast on it.

If those reported numbers are right, the honest summary is that Amazon made the credits faster and easier to collect while shortening the windows. Better mechanics, less runway. For a disciplined launch operator that trade is fine. For anyone whose new products historically take five months to find traction, the shorter liquidation window is the change that will actually show up in your P&L.

What to do this week

Open Seller Central, find the Enroll in New Selection Program (2026) page, and confirm enrollment. If your incentive dashboard shows you as automatically enrolled, that is the introductory window talking, and it expires October 31. Confirming is what carries it past that date.

Pull your current benefit report and list every ASIN with an active window, the benefit type, and what is still on the clock. Coupon and Vine balances are use it or lose it.

Check your IPI. If it is below 300 you are not eligible, and that has consequences well beyond this program heading into Q4.

Then go back to running the business. The launch decision that matters in September is whether the product, the price and the inbound timing are right for peak, not whether you captured $575 in credits on it.

If you want your Q4 launch calendar, FBA inbound timing and new-product unit economics reviewed together, book a strategy assessment and we will build the plan around what actually moves the number.
